The 2020 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report says that 80% of breaches that include hacking are brute force or use of lost or stolen credentials.

Jacqueline Berg, who works in product marketing for RSA’s identity and access management products, says that passwords top the list when it comes to weak credentials.

“You can imagine that passwords are weak, because humans create them and manage them,” says Berg.

Berg points to data that shows the average corporate user has up to 21 passwords.

“You know none of us are memorizing 21 passwords,” says Berg. “[This is] making it even easier for hackers to not only hack one account, but many of them.”

In response, RSA encourages partners to take a business-driven approach. That means the highest protection should be focused on what matters most to an organization’s success. RSA has a new solution to help you do that, YubiKey for RSA SecurID Access.

“The three biggest advantages of using the YubiKey for RSA SecurID Access are reducing reliance on passwords, enhancing security and increasing productivity,” says Berg.

Berg says because new phishing attacks are launched as often as every 30 seconds, eliminating the need for passwords is crucial – especially when it comes to SaaS and web applications.

“It comes in different form factors, and RSA happens to sell YubiKey for RSA SecurID Access, which is a USB A form factor that basically allows a user to unlock and access different sites that a user would normally need to use a username and password for,” says Berg.

Solution providers are most at risk, because they interact with so many partners – including customers and vendors.
