The 2024 Edge Computing 100

Companies at the forefront of the global edge computing market range from cloud giants and cybersecurity superstars to hybrid work specialists and AI startups.

With market research firm IDC expecting worldwide spending on edge computing to reach $228 billion in 2024, CRN breaks down 100 market leaders leading the charge.

“Key technologies like AI-powered devices, edge servers with GPUs and 5G connectivity are gaining traction, enabling organizations to process data closer to the source and achieve higher performance,” said IDC’s Alexandra Rotaru, manager of data and analytics, in a statement.

IDC also is forecasting the global edge computing market to reach $378 billion by 2028, driven by demand for real-time analytics, automation and enhanced customer experiences.

Organizations are leveraging edge computing to improve the response times of their remote devices and to get better insight from device data. Edge technologies make real-time computing possible in locations where it would not normally be feasible, while also reducing bottlenecking on the networks and data centers that support edge devices.

The 100 companies that made CRN’s 2024 Edge Computing 100 list are playing a critical role by offering tailored offerings—from infrastructure deployment to AI integration and edge management—to help businesses of all shapes and sizes adopt edge computing.

Infrastructure and software leaders in the market include everyone from Amazon Web Services, Eaton, Dell Technologies and Nvidia to Cloudbrink, Versa Networks and Splunk by Cisco. On the IoT and 5G front, companies ranging from AT&T and T-Mobile to EdgeQ and Silicon Labs are paving the way for the future.
