CRN’s list of the 50 hottest hardware, software and services companies in edge computing this year ranges from innovative startups like Reskube to edge specialists such as Scale Computing to market leaders like Cisco Systems, Dell Technologies and Microsoft.

Today’s innovative software and hardware companies continue to invest in edge computing technologies in 2024 as more power than ever is needed to handle the AI era and the vast amount of data pouring into edge environments.

CRN’s list of the 50 hottest hardware, software and services companies in edge computing this year ranges from innovative startups like Reskube to edge specialists such as Scale Computing to market leaders like Cisco Systems, Dell Technologies and Microsoft.

The edge computing market is key in today’s AI-focused world as the technology allows devices in any location to process data at the edge of any network or device.

“As the focus of AI shifts from training to inference, edge computing will be required to address the need for reduced latency and enhanced privacy,” said David McCarthy, research vice president of cloud and edge services at IDC, in a statement.

“This trend not only optimizes operation efficiencies but also fosters new business models that were previously not possible with centralized infrastructure,” said McCarthy. “Distributing applications and data to edge locations enables faster decision-making with reduced network congestion.”

CRN breaks down the 50 companies ruling the hardware, software and services markets surrounding edge computing.

This list includes the largest infrastructure providers in the world including AWS, Eaton, NetApp, Google Cloud and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The list also includes software players like Veeam, BMC Software and Citrix, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, which are innovating at the edge, along with AI companies Nvidia and Microsoft.
