Storability Leverages Parent StorageTek To Enter Channel
The Southborough, Mass.-based developer of enterprise storage resource management software, acquired by Louisville, Colo.-based StorageTek in September, had no channel presence, but does now thanks to StorageTek's channel organization, said Joel Kimball, president and general manager of Storability.
George Karabatsos, vice president of reseller sales and marketing at StorageTek, assigned a team to help the acquired company develop its channel strategy and sales, Kimball said.
The company's software, Global Storage Manager, helps companies identify under-utilized assets to delay or cut out new equipment purchases; allows a global view of SAN, NAS and direct-attached primary and secondary storage; and improves quality of service with real-time alerts and analysis of the storage environment, the company said.
The software offers a big services play for channel partners, including implementation, which typically requires two to three days, as well as assessment services, Kimball said. Assessment opportunities for channel partners include SAN design, SAN discovery, customer reporting and storage optimization, the latter of which finds and utilizes stale storage capacity, he said.
Two partners already have been certified to work with the software, Kimball said. An additional 25 solution providers and two distributors are in the process, and the company is currently recruiting more partners, he said.
