Top Intel Enterprise Exec Leaves For LSI Logic
Talwalkar, 41, was named CEO at LSI Logic on Monday. The Milpitas, Calif.-based company makes high-end communication, storage and consumer processors. He succeeds LSI Logic founder Wilfred Corrigan.
"Abhi is a recognized business leader and technologist, whose vision and two decades of engineering and management experience will be a great asset to LSI Logic," Corrigan said in a statement. "The board of directors and I are very pleased to have attracted an executive of Abhi's caliber and reputation."
In running Intel's Digital Enterprise unit, Talwalkar had overseen much of the chip giant's server and desktop product road maps during a time when Intel made a quick move into dual-core and 64-bit, industry-standard processors. A former executive at Sequent Computer, which is now part of IBM, Talwalkar had been at Intel for 12 years.
Intel said Senior Vice President Pat Gelsinger, who was appointed co-general manager of the Digital Enterprise Group when it was formed in January, will assume sole responsibility for the group, which develops computing and communications infrastructure platforms.
