HP Closes AppIQ Acquisition

Based on open standards, Storage Essentials 5.0 is part of HP&'s announced plan to seamlessly tie server and storage management together. Storage Essentials was built using standards such as the Desktop Management Task Force&'s CIM specification, SMI-S, and J2EE. The product integrates with HP Systems Insight Manager so that system administrators can manage server and storage from a single console.

HP also detailed plans in the next six to 13 months to enhance support for multivendor environments, and to tap new automation enablement technology for HP BladeSystem infrastructures. HP also says it will deliver products for cluster virtualization and grid management. In addition, the company will improve upon its reporting tools.

Over the next six to 12 months, HP plans to continue to enhance support for heterogeneous infrastructures and leverage the new technology into automation enablement technology for HP BladeSystem environments as well as cluster virtualization, grid management and enhanced reporting tools.
