EMC Debuts SAN-Planning, Management Add-Ons For ControlCenter
SAN Architect, which comes with a price tag of $2,400 for a one-year subscription, lets IT professionals model new SAN layouts, and verifies that all components -- from applications and hosts to switches and storage devices -- will work as advertised in the design. The template-based Architect makes possible "what if" changes in SAN topologies without disrupting in-use storage networks, said EMC.
AutoAdvice, meanwhile, is an add-on engine to ControlCenter that gives IT a Web-based look at performance and resource utilization metrics across the company. Numbers are automatically gleaned from applications, servers, databases, and storage sub-systems by AutoAdvice, then compared against EMC's own knowledge base before recommendations are passed back on potential trouble spots and current problems.
AutoAdvice is available immediately at a price of $400 for a single-CPU subscription.
