Samsung Unveils Multifeatured PDA With WiMax

The PDA, introduced at the Mobile WiMax Summit 2006 this week, is fitted with Microsoft's Windows XP. Samsung said the SPH-P9000's 5-inch WVGA screen and its 30-GByte hard drive have been designed for movie, music, and document storage and viewing. The device weighs slightly more than a pound.

"Samsung will expand its portfolio of mobile convergence devices, as we expect to expand our global mobile WiMax services globally," said Kitae Lee, president of the telecommunication network business at Samsung Electronics, in a statement. He promised that Samsung will continue to drive the market with additional devices in the future.

Powered by a 1GHz Transmeta processor, the SPH-P9000 has a 1.3-megapixel camera. For short-range links, the device has Bluetooth capability.
