Dell EMC Storage SVP: 'We're Not Going To Be Complacent' As Market Leader
Dell EMC storage leader David Singer says his company is not going to get "complacent" after becoming the global storage market share leader .
"We're really proud of our results, but we also know that it's a very competitive industry -- we're not going to be complacent," said Singer, during a recent channel partner event in Boston. "There's a huge opportunity for our partner community. A huge opportunity for us, but all that means is that we need to continue to invest. We need to continue to transform and we're going to keep the innovation coming and we're going to take more share."
For the first quarter 2018, Dell took over the worldwide storage share leadership position from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, generating $2.8 billion in sales, approximately 22 percent of the total market. For Dell's first fiscal quarter earnings report this month, the company reported storage sales of $4.08 billion, representing a 10 percent increase year over year.

Singer said Dell EMC's new simplified storage product strategy will make it easier for channel partners to understand and get trained on the portfolio. Additionally, Singer said partners should reach out and leverage Dell EMC's inside channel sales team to drive net new storage sales.
"I always believe that channel partners should be enabled, they should understand their portfolio, they should understand what we have to offer and how they can apply it. I encourage the channel partners to learn and also reach out to the channel sales force that we have in Dell and get them to do on the job training and sit down in front of your customers so you can see how we apply our products and our practices to a typical IT environment," said Singer.
Singer was the keynote presenter at Winslow Technology Group's annual customer event at the Hotel Commonwealth in Boston where the solution provider and Dell partner hosted more than 220 customers and OEM partner representatives.
