Emulex Automates HBA Updates
The Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company's new Enterprise AutoPilot Installer software allows such updates to be done automatically across all HBAs within a server instead of manually on an HBA-by-HBA basis, said Chris Carlin, senior director of marketing.
The software automatically updates 32-bit or 64-bit drivers across a nearly unlimited number of HBAs in a single location or across multiple locations, and handles the installation with only six mouse clicks for HBAs in a single server, Carlin said.
Storage managers can also set a corporate HBA installation standard that can then be uploaded to HBAs at remote sites, he said.
The software works with any type of Emulex HBA in any server platform running Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003. "It's all automatic," Carlin said. "[Customers] don't have to worry about which platform or which version they have."
The Enterprise AutoPilot Installer software is available for free downloads starting Monday.
About 35 percent to 40 percent of Emulex's business is done through solution providers, with the remainder going to the channel via server and storage OEMs, Carlin said.
