WATCH: Frame’s Founder Talks Being Acquired By Nutanix And New Partner-Friendly Services Capabilities

‘VDI has always been very partner-oriented because VDI is hard,’ says Nikola Bozinovic, general manager and vice president of desktop services at Nutanix, and the founder of Frame. Bozinovic discusses how partners can benefit from Nutanix’s acquisition of Frame in an interview with CRNtv.

Good news for the channel: Nutanix is adding more services capabilities to its offerings as seen in the latest advancements around Xi Frame.

Frame has been a game-changer for Nutanix, which acquired the Desktop-as-a-Service solution in August. Xi Frame got its formal introduction to partners at Nutanix’s .NEXT conference in Anaheim in early May, where the company unveiled Xi Frame for the Private Cloud. The new service enables Frame to run desktop virtualization workloads on-premises on top of the Nutanix Acropolis hypervisor (AHV).

Nutanix General Manager and Vice President of Desktop Services Nikola Bozinovic, also the founder of Frame, discussed the details in an interview with CRNtv.

Why should partners go all in with VDI solutions? What opportunities can they expect?

Bozinovic: VDI has always been very partner-oriented because VDI is hard. It was very hard to implement the infrastructure part of the stack and very hard to implement the software stack. What Nutanix really does amazingly well is innovate in the infrastructure part of things with hyper-converged, and that opened up a lot of partner opportunities. We believe that by making products easier and more service-oriented, partners have the opportunity to service more customers in a shorter period of time and mix and match private cloud and public cloud infrastructure.

Tell us about your latest announcement discussed at .NEXT 2019.

Bozinovic: We announced that in addition to frame orchestrating new workloads on public clouds we can now run virtual desktops on Nutanix AHV. It’s a result of a lot of hard work over the last eight months, and it’s really something where one and one makes three because we are leveraging the core and all great things from Nutanix portfolio.

What does Frame bring to Nutanix’ s portfolio?

Bozinovic: I think the most important part is innovation. We see a lot of companies trying to deliver new technologies, cloud-based solutions, bring the simplification of the cloud to the enterprise. I think Nutanix has been doing that for a long time and I think Frame is a new addition to that.
