The 2016 Enterprise App Awards
Helping The Business World Go Mobile
The demand for innovation in enterprise technology is as strong as ever, and that includes innovation in the mobility sphere, as the workforce continues to become increasingly mobile. This year's Enterprise App Awards honor the innovations that are helping businesspeople get more done on the go -- from reviewing data for decision-making to managing IT infrastructure to collaborating with colleagues. Importantly, the awards are focused on technologies that solution providers and their end customers can derive value from.
The following slides highlight the winners and finalists chosen by CRN editors for the 2016 Enterprise App Awards.
Business Intelligence/Big Data
Winner: Apttus
Product: Quote-to-Cash Intelligence
OS: Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: $60
For organizations that sell complex products through channel partners, Apttus' Quote-to-Cash Intelligence yields insights about what actions to take to help boost sales and allows users to take those actions via their mobile devices. Specifically, Quote-to-Cash Intelligence provides a central location for organizations to manage their channel partner relationships and associated pricing/discounting rules. The software also enables organizations to move data from quotes over to contracts, and from contracts to orders. Underlying the Quote-to-Cash Intelligence software is machine learning technology that can recognize patterns in real time while providing analysis of customers, pricing, products, and other types of relevant data.
Business Intelligence/Big Data
Finalist: Domo
Product: Domo app
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
Decision makers within a company depend on having access to their business data, and the Domo app offers a number of features to help make that connection. Those include mobile alerts when key data sets move outside a certain range -- or hit a target -- and an interface for reviewing business data on the go.
Business Intelligence/Big Data
Finalist: Infor
Product: Infor BI Dashboards
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: Free
Infor's BI Dashboards app allows businesspeople to create their own dashboard featuring the data they need most, including reports, animated charts, graphics, and maps. The iOS app also includes support for viewing crucial reports on Apple Watch.
Business Management
Winner: Dell EMC
Product: LEAP Snap
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: $900
With LEAP Snap, Dell EMC offers enterprise-grade document capture via any device, and with an easy-to-use experience that boasts import times of less than five minutes. The app includes features to automatically capture, categorize, and organize documents, ultimately enabling businesses to make better use of their previously unstructured data. Notably, the app includes a template design service that removes the need for configuration or development before getting started. Channel partners, meanwhile, have the opportunity to upsell and cross-sell LEAP Snap to their existing install bases, while developer partners are allowed to offer their own apps alongside LEAP Snap.
Communication
Winner: Broadview Networks
Product: MyOfficeSuite Mobile App
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
Replicating the functionality of a desk phone in employees' mobile phones is the big achievement of Broadview Networks' MyOfficeSuite app. MyOfficeSuite lets users make and receive calls on their mobile phones as if they were dialing from their Broadview Networks OfficeSuite desk phones. Specifically, OfficeSuite customers can dial their colleagues by extension, dial out with their desk phone numbers and -- maybe most significantly -- have their calls paid for from their company calling plans, rather than count against their own mobile minutes. Admins are also enabled to provide customizable access in the MyOfficeSuite app depending on a particular user's needs.
Communication
Finalist: Mitel
Product: MiTeam
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: Free
For organizations looking for a collaboration workspace built with the needs of modern teams in mind, Mitel's MiTeam solution offers a boost to speed and simplicity of communication. MiTeam enables teams to connect for voice and video meetings, chat sessions and content sharing, while teams can also edit and annotate documents within the application itself.
Communication
Finalist: BroadSoft Inc.
Product: UC-One Communicator
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: Free
Channel partners looking to provide their customers with a unified communications application will find a full set of features with BroadSoft's UC-One Communicator. Those include HD voice, video, chat, screen sharing, and file sharing. UC-One Communicator also integrates with popular email and calendar clients.
Network/Device Management
Winner: Pure Storage
Product: Pure On The Go
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
Pure Storage's Pure On The Go app makes life easier for channel partners in a number of ways, starting with offering a way to configure a customer's storage levels while on mobile. The app can also provide pricing for the technology, as well as provide the customer with quotes on the cost of the technology and services. Other functionality in Pure On The Go allows partners to receive sales leads from Pure Storage in the app -- and the partner can accept or register deals there, too. On top of it all, the app provides access to the Pure Storage partner portal to channel partners.
Network/Device Management
Finalist: Pulseway
Product: Pulseway MSP
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: Free
With Pulseway MSP, managed service providers are able to monitor -- and even manage -- IT client systems from their mobile devices. That includes setting up automation for maintenance, backup and security. MSPs can also receive complete system reports using the software.
Network/Device Management
Finalist: Netreo
Product: OmniCenter Mobile
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
While Netreo's OmniCenter provides visibility into an organization's IT systems, OmniCenter Mobile extends that visibility into an app. The app doesn't require a VPN or a separate server to utilize it, and users are able to view IT-related issues -- and receive notifications -- all over mobile.
Productivity
Winner: Xerox
Product: Xerox Easy Translator Service
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
With nothing more than a smartphone photo of a document (or a scan of a document with a multifunction printer), the Xerox Easy Translator Service is able to translate the document into characters in 42 languages. According to Xerox, the technology is ideal for channel partners that are looking to offer translation services, such as channel partners that serve the K-12 education market, where translation needs are common. The Easy Translator Service also requires low IT support because updates to the service, such as the addition of new languages, are carried out automatically.
Productivity
Finalist: Varonis
Product: DatAnywhere
OS: Android, iOS, Windows Mobile
Price: Free
For organizations looking to make behind-the-firewall data available to mobile workers, Varonis' DatAnywhere enables users to access such data without a VPN or re-configuration of permissions. DatAnywhere is capable of making terabytes or petabytes of data accessible to users, and that data can also be edited and managed on the go.

Winner: Nasuni
Product: Nasuni Enterprise File Services
OS: Android, iOS
Price: Free
In an age when "shadow IT" applications such as Dropbox have become a force within enterprises, Nasuni Enterprise File Services aims to offer another option. The app provides employees with speedy access to work files on their mobile devices and enables secure file sharing with users inside -- or even outside -- their organizations. Nasuni Enterprise File Services manages all files centrally and thus avoids the need to build a separate infrastructure for enterprise file sync and share.
