Explore The World Without Wires Virtual Tradeshow
Chris Sullivan, vice president and managing director of Everything Channel, greets trade show attendees with a message about what to expect at the show. Sullivan laid out the options, noting the different sessions that were available and discussing why A World Without Wires was selected as the theme of the show. From there, Sullivan advocated heading over to the CopaCabana for a chance to chat with other attendees and have a virtual drink.
Standing in front of the expo center, Sullivan explains that A World Without Wires is an interactive trade show. Encouraging participants to sit in on vendor sessions and ask questions. The show was rich in content and offered plenty of resources for attendees to download for later reference.
Booths from Cisco Systems' Linksys, OnForce, Lenovo, ScanSource and others greeted everyone on the trade show floor. World Without Wires attendees were treated to product demos and information at each booth where a representative from the company was prepared to answer questions, offer advice and provide product information.
Anyone who's walked a tradeshow floor and attended vendor or educational sessions knows that sometimes you need to kick back, rest your barking dogs and slug back a cold one. World Without Wires provided the CopaCabana for exactly that. Users could take a few minutes between sessions and join in the chat. Attendees were encouraged to pick their own icons, and it provided a good opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.
During the Test Center Roundup session, users were treated to a presentation by Edward Moltzen, the Test Center Managing Editor, and Technical Editor Samara Lynn. During the presentation Moltzen and Lynn discussed the benefits of a mobile phone, a PC, two notebooks and a wireless access point. The Samsung Blackjack II wowed both Lynn and Moltzen, who both thought it could be a serious contender against Apple's iPhone. The 802.11n access point from Ruckus is an affordable access point without any external antennae that won points for allowing users to detect intruders. Meanwhile, the Fujitsu LifeBook T2010 Tablet and Lenovo IdeaBook were both stand-outs in the notebook category. Finally, the Acer Veriton Desktop PC impressed for its small footprint and wireless capabilities.
In one of the several vendor presentations that attendees had the option to attend, Lenovo introduced itself as "the new Lenovo," calling it a "world of opportunity."
