6 Non-Dell Products To See At Dell World

The second annual Dell World kicks off this week in Austin, Texas, and more than 500 solution providers are expected to attend, according to the Round Rock, Texas-based company. But in case you can't make it, here's a look at some of the new products -- not from Dell -- that are being showcased at the event.

CommVault Simpana 9

Dell and CommVault have a new partnership that includes CommVault's Simpana 9 software shipping on Dell's PowerVault DL2300 appliances to deliver integrated, scalable and simplified data protection for medium-sized to large, distributed organizations, according to both companies.

The PowerVault DL2300 is the fourth generation of Dell's PowerVault disk-based data protection appliances, and the combination of Dell PowerEdge 12th generation servers with Simpana data protection software can offer integrated data backup, recovery, replication, archiving, deduplication, search and analytics for both physical and virtual servers, according to CommVault.

Having Simpana 9 software pre-configured and pre-tested on the PowerVault DL2300 allows enterprises to transition from setup to scale-out data protection in less than an hour, according to CommVault.

Kemp Technologies LoadMaster R320

Kemp Technologies has announced plans to deliver its LoadMaster R320, a purpose-built, hardware load balancing and application delivery controller, in a new partnership with Dell. The LoadMaster R320 offers high availability and high-performance server load balancer with first-year maintenance and support included, according to Kemp Technologies.

The LoadMaster R320 is designed with Layer 4 and 7 load balancing, content switching, SSL acceleration, Layer 7 content switching, caching, compression, IPS, IP and Layer 7 persistence, according to the company. In addition, it is optimized for Microsoft Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, RDS and Dynamics and will also be optimized for other enterprise workloads from Oracle, Citrix, IBM and other companies, according to Peter Melerud, executive vice president of product management at Kemp Technologies.

Morphlabs mCloud Helix

The mCloud Helix from Morphlabs offers a compact, scalable private cloud infrastructure that combines high-performance SSD-powered nodes and pre-integrated ZFS, to eliminate the need for more expensive enterprise SANs, according to Morphlabs.

It has one of the smallest footprints for a cloud infrastructure on the market, featuring a rate of less than 10 w/vCPU. The Helix is built and tested on Dell PowerEdge C servers and available for on-premise deployment, according to the company.

FireHost

FireHost is a secure cloud hosting company that provides enterprise security, scalability and performance with a public cloud infrastructure. The company offers PCI or HIPAA compliant hosting as well as high-traffic solutions from Dallas, Phoenix, London and Amsterdam, according to the company. To date, FireHost has blocked more than 250 million hack attempts against customers and was the first IaaS solution to have a PCI-compliant public cloud, according to the company.

BMC Software MyIT

BMC Software plans to showcase BMC MyIT, a new enterprise software solution that empowers employees to take personal control over the delivery of the IT services and information they need -- anytime, anywhere, from any device.

BMC MyIT can be used from any device and delivers a personalized portfolio of technology and services to each individual employee, including a content locker, mobile corporate app store and other location-aware services and solutions, according to the company. It integrates with the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite and brings business service management to employees, according to Kia Behnia, BMC’s chief technology officer.

Micron P320h SSD

Micron will be highlighting the P320h, an express flash 2.5-inch PCIe SSD for Dell. Micron was first to the market with a 2.5-inch PCIe solution and has been working closely with Dell to supply express flash solutions. The drive, pictured here in front of a Dell PowerEdge 12th generation server, furnishes up to 50 petabytes of drive life and power economy of up to 30,000 READ input/output operations per second per watt, according to Micron.
