CumuLogic Unveils Java PaaS Application Platform

CumuLogic released its CumuLogic Cloud Application Platform v1.0 to allow cloud service providers to build a Platform-as-a-Service to deploy Java applications in the cloud.

Cupertino, Calif.-based CumuLogic’s platform supports Infrastructure-as-a-Service clouds, such as Citrix CloudStack, OpenStack and VMware vSphere in private and hybrid clouds.

CumuLogic Cloud Application Platform v1.0 allows developers to build cloud-based applications, helps migrate existing java applications to the cloud and includes enterprise application management features such as monitoring and metering.

SingTel, HP To Build Cloud For Singapore Government

Singapore Telecommunications Limited has partnered with Hewlett-Packard to build a private cloud for government agencies in Singapore.

The SingTel-HP partnership will deliver the Singapore Government Cloud, called G-Cloud, on HP’s CloudSystem. HP also brings leading cloud innovation through the resources of HP Labs Singapore.

In related news, SingTel said it is launching its own cloud service, PowerOn Compute, in Hong Kong. PowerOn Compute, powered by VMware, is a hybrid cloud service for public or private clouds.

GFI Offers Cloud-Based Security For SMBs

GFI Software, of Clearwater, Fla., on Thursday released its GFI Cloud platform to allow SMB IT administrators to manage IT systems more efficiently.

GFI Cloud includes its GFI VIPRE Business Online, for antivirus and anti-malware protection, and GFI Network Server Monitor Online, for network monitoring and server optimization. In the near future, it will include GFI LanGuard technology to automate software patching and vulnerability assessment.

GFI Cloud users will get access to a cloud-based portal that enables network management.

Salesforce.com Snaps Up GoInstant For Cloud-Based Customer Services

GoInstant, which offers Web-based customer services, said it has agreed to be purchased by Salesfoce.com to complement Salesforce's "service cloud," which helps customers communicate with call centers on websites and social media networks.

GoInstant, founded in 2010, raised $1.7 million in venture funding and launched the service in late 2011. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

’The GoInstant team has built incredibly sophisticated technology,’ Parker Harris, co-founder and executive vice president of technology for Salesforce.com, said in a blog posted on GoInstant’s website. ’We will help them scale and grow so that social enterprises everywhere can engage with and delight customers in totally new ways.’

Mimecast Sets Up Partner Program In North America

Mimecast, which offers cloud-based email archiving, security and continuity for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, announced its North American Partner Program, to help U.S. partners integrate Mimecast cloud solutions within their offerings.

The program will give partners access to Mimecast’s cloud-based unified email management portfolio with full SLAs, and it will include partner revenue security for high-margin opportunities, dedicated marketing support, training, sales resources and a partner portal.

London-based Mimecast will offer four levels of partnership -- Authorized, Business, Certified and Alliance -- for which partners can be compensated for the value of services offered to customers. Current Mimecast partners include HP, NaviSite, Binary Tree, Softchoice, SHI and SoftwareONE.
