5 Cool New HP Print And PC Product Launches
HP's Latest Moves
HP Inc. is looking to make sure that its growth in both of its core markets, PC and print, doesn't slow down any time soon. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company this week is unveiling a number of new products in both segments, including A3 multifunction printers, Pavilion x360 convertible laptops and Pavilion notebooks. HP also announced several new initiatives to enhance its printer security offering by integrating with technologies from vendors including Microsoft and McAfee. The company is unveiling the new products and integrations in conjunction with its Executive Forum 2018 event, which is being held this week in Las Vegas with 400 partners from the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
What follows are five product launches announced by HP this week.
A3 Print
As HP continues to pursue a greater share of the A3 multifunction printer market, the company announced an expansion of its A3 lineup at Executive Forum 2018. HP didn't disclose how many new models have been added, but said the A3 portfolio now includes new PageWide A3 models that are available both for sale and on contract with external finishing. HP also revealed that it has onboarded 600 A3 partners to date, and has re-named its Suwon, Korea, location -- added with the acquisition of Samsung's printer business last year -- as HP Printing Korea.
Additionally, the company disclosed details about its work in the A3 segment with Oklahoma City, Okla.-based partner ImageNet Consulting. ImageNet has reduced its service costs by 15 percent through using HP's PageWide A3 technologies such as Smart Device Services remote management, HP said.
Printer Security And Accessibility
HP announced new moves aimed at enhancing printer security including integrations with popular IT security monitoring tools, such as SIEM (security information and event management). HP's print security technology is now integrated with McAfee’s SIEM, in addition to its integration with Splunk, ArcSight and SIEMonster. HP also announced integrations with endpoint protection and management platforms including Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager). HP is "the only manufacturer to offer integration of printer security compliance and event data with these management and monitoring tools," the company said in a news release, ultimately "ensuring that printers are treated just like any other endpoint on the network and managed using the same tools for PCs." Additionally, HP said a new endpoint security sales and technical certification training is expected to launch for channel partners as of May 1.
Meanwhile, the company said that it's rolling out the new HP Accessibility Assistant (pictured) to improve voice command and screen reader support for workers with disabilities. The assistant is expected to debut this spring for a selection of HP A3 and A4 enterprise-class printers.
Pavilion x360
HP is unveiling an array of new PCs in its Pavilion lineup, including 14-inch and 15-inch models of the Pavilion x360 convertible laptop. The new models offer eighth-gen Intel Core processors, discrete graphics from Nvidia MX130 or AMD Radeon on select models, HD or FHD resolution displays and minimal bezels around the display. The slim bezels enable the devices to feel smaller overall than a typical 14-inch or 15-inch laptop, HP said. Certain models will also be available with a premium anodized aluminum finish.
Pricing for the new 14-inch Pavilion x360 starts at $499, and it will be available June 10. The new 15-inch Pavilion x360 will start at $579 and will be available June 3.
Pavilion Notebooks
HP is launching new 14- and 15-inch Pavilion notebooks, which are now thinner and also feature slim bezels. The new Pavilion notebooks include up to 11.75 hours of battery life on a charge, eighth-gen Intel Core or AMD Ryzen processors, optional Intel Optane memory (for faster loading of applications and files) and a metal keyboard deck.
Pricing for the new 14-inch Pavilion notebook starts at $569, while the new 15-inch Pavilion notebook starts at $679. Both notebooks will be available June 3.
Pavilion Desktops
HP announced its 2018 portfolio of Pavilion desktops with a space-saving 10 percent reduction in depth, eighth-gen Intel Core i+ or AMD Ryzen processors and discrete graphics from AMD Radeon RX or Nvidia GTX. The new desktops also offer up to 512 GB of SSD storage, up to 3 TB of HDD storage and optional Intel Optane memory for storage acceleration.
The new Pavilion desktops will be available May 13 with a starting price of $339.99.
