HP Discover: 8 New HP Business-Class Devices And Services
Mobile Devices For Business Users And Partners
Hewlett-Packard this week is introducing several new business-class client devices including ultrabooks and mini desktops, as well as a new low-cost notebook PC aimed at partners looking for ways to serve their education customers' requirements for student devices.
The new devices, along with the new services to go with them, were introduced at the HP Discover 2013 conference taking place this week in Barcelona, Spain, with releases scheduled between this week and April.

HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1
The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 notebook is HP's thinnest Elite-series Ultrabook, with a CNC aluminum unibody design that is 15.9 mm thin and weighs 3.3 lbs. Even so, it passes 12 MIL-STD 810G reliability tests for extreme temperatures, vibration, and shock.
The device features HP's ForcePad, a pressure-sensitive touchpad that users operate with the same touch gestures used in smartphones and tablets. The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 features Intel Dual-Core i5 or i7 processors, and it comes with new HP security features.
Options include 4G LTE wireless, a choice of high-definition displays, touch-screen capability and the HP Ultraslim Side Docking Station.
The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 is available this week with a starting list price of $1,299.
HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Desktop Mini
The EliteDesk 800 G1 Desktop Mini, the newest member of HP's EliteDesk family, is a full-performance PC designed to fit in the smallest workspaces.
The PC's integrated wireless antenna and VESA mounting allow for flexible deployment in call centers, hospitals, retail stores, health-care organizations and other areas where space is a concern, HP said.
The EliteDesk 800 G1 Desktop Mini features Intel's 4th Generation Core processors with optional vPro support, and it sports six USB ports, including a fast-charging port for tablets and smartphones, as well a VGA and two display ports to allow connection to up to three displays. However, it consumes under 8W of power at idle.
The HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Desktop Mini is expected to be available in the United States by April 2014, with a starting price of $669.
HP ProDesk 600 G1 Desktop Mini
The new HP ProDesk 600 G1 Desktop Mini is the smallest member of HP's ProDesk family, with the same small form factor as the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Desktop Mini.
However, it includes HP's Client Security portfolio, integrated wireless and new M.2 solid-state storage technology. Deployment options include integrated VESA mounting and an optional "all-in-two" convenience stand and support for up to three displays.
The HP ProDesk 600 G1 Desktop Mini is expected to be available in the United States by April 2014, with a starting price of $489.
HP EliteBook Revolve G2
HP's second-generation EliteBook Revolve 810 G2 business notebook touts a touch display that pivots for sharing work and folds for use as a tablet. This device comes with an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 ULT processor, Windows 8.1 and a SSD.
The HP EliteBook Revolve G2 includes a magnesium chassis and spill-resistant keyboard, and it passes MIL-STD 810G testing. Mobility options include 4G LTE WWAN, HP ePrint and an enterprise-grade docking station.
The device also includes HP Sure Start, HP Client Security and HP Trust Circles to protect device, data and user identity.
The HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G2 is expected to be available in the United States by Dec. 20 with a starting price of $1,364.
HP EliteDisplay S230tm
The new HP EliteDisplay S230tm is a 23-inch diagonal display with a Windows 8-certified multitouch display and antiglare glass treatment.
For collaborative work in the office or businesses that requires a customer-facing experience, it offers touchscreen interaction and optional arm or wall mounts.
The EliteDisplay S230tm offers full high-definition display with In-Plane Switching (IPS) for use in ambient light. The EliteDisplay S230tm includes 178-degree angle viewing, an adjustable easel design and integrated speakers. An integrated 720p webcam and dual microphones also turn it into a desktop videoconference device.
The HP EliteDisplay S230tm will become available in the United States on Jan. 6, 2014, with a starting price of $359.
HP Classmate Notebook PC
The new HP Classmate notebook is targeted at students. The device is centered on an Intel Celeron N2000 Series processor, and it includes the Windows 8.1 operating system.
U.S. availability and starting list price of the HP Classmate notebook were not available at press time.
HP Education Services
To go along with its HP Classmate 10 notebooks and other education-focused equipment, HP this week unveiled new education services.
HP's education services combine consulting, leadership development and teacher training aimed at helping teachers use technology for instruction. The services include a Technology Boot Camp, a Developing Instructional Leaders program, and HP Education Consulting.
U.S. availability for HP education services was not available at press time.
HP Configuration And Deployment Services
Also new from HP are IT configuration and deployment services the company said can help businesses cut deployment costs and time with globally standardized IT solutions.
These new services include custom system settings, third-party hardware integration and asset tagging, HP installation and setup services, HP logistics services, HP migration services, HP asset decommission services, and HP GetMore customized device configuration and deployment services.
HP is also launching a new configuration and deployment portal to help business users find materials and processes for customizing and deploying personal systems.
