The reinvention of HP Inc. is only picking up momentum. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company's focus on products such as powerful 2-in-1s and groundbreaking printers has led to a wave of innovation that is making a mark on the tech world. HP's moves have included new takes on computing devices for workers that blend in the best of consumer-friendly design, as well as a reimagining of what sort of printing remains relevant in the modern era.

HP Sprocket

One of HP's most innovative bets in the printer market recently is the Sprocket, a pocket-sized consumer printer. Sprocket prints out 2 x 3-inch photos that double as stickers, and the printing is done wirelessly from a user's smartphone. The aim is to inspire people who usually don't do much printing (i.e., millennials). The bet appears to be paying off: HP said the product sold out during last holiday season and has been seeing strong sales since then, leading to the expansion of geographic markets (and addition of a red color edition) for Sprocket this summer. "We're now in country expansion mode," said Anneliese Olson, general manager and global head for home printing solutions at HP, in an interview with CRN.

Olson said the company will also consider other uses for the Sprocket concept outside the consumer space. One key vertical could be education, with possible uses for school projects and printing out students' pictures on the first day of school, she said.

HP EliteBook x360

The EliteBook x360 is a 2-in-1 notebook is built with the needs of the business power user in mind. Along with a foldable touch-screen display, key features include long battery life (up to 16.5 hours on a charge) and a range of work-friendly ports (USB-A, HDMI, USB-C, microSD, smart card reader). The laptop is also just about as thin as you can get -- 0.59 of an inch thick -- while still having those ports. Other business-friendly elements include security features such as HP's self-healing Sure Start technology, and dedicated keys for launching Skype for Business and other collaboration functions. In addition, the EliteBook x360 has a slick-looking aluminum body and a smooth-performing touchpad.

HP A3 PageWide Pro 777z

One of HP's largest bets in business printing right now is around A3 multifunction printer/copiers, which is a new market for the company. HP's new A3 models -- which apply HP's know-how from the A4 printer market to copiers -- are now rolling out. They include the PageWide Pro 777z, which offers low-cost printing thanks in part to HP's highly efficient PageWide printing technology. Print speeds reach up to 65 pages per minute in both color and black-and-white, and the machine can also copy, scan and fax.

HP Sprout Pro

The Sprout Pro is an inventive approach to computing from HP that combines a PC with 3-D and 2-D scanning, a touch-screen mat and a projector. The Sprout Pro is targeted for end users in both the education market and commercial industries. HP's second-generation offering for the Sprout Pro features improvements including better 3-D scanning options (such as 360-degree scans and faster 3-D capture) and an improved stylus (the HP Active Pen). The new version also includes a 23.8-inch FHD touch-screen display, a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor (the quad-core i7-7700T) and Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics.

HP Spectre x360 15

HP's latest update for the Spectre x360 15 includes a tiny bezel on the left and right sides of the 15.6-inch display, which shrinks down the footprint of the sleek-looking machine. The UHD touch-screen display folds all the way back, and the Spectre x360 15 features a full-aluminum chassis and a full-size keyboard. The latest version also promises up to 12.75 hours of battery life, and includes seventh-generation Intel Core processors as well as Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics.

HP Chromebook 11

Now in its fifth generation, the HP Chromebook 11 continues to offer the sorts of features that have made it popular in verticals such as education. The 11.6-inch laptop is thinner and lighter design than previous versions, and includes a fanless design along with an option for an HD touch display. Meanwhile, the Chromebook 11's durability features include rubberized edges for drop protection and an optional scratch-resistant screen.

HP Jet Fusion 3-D Printer

HP's Jet Fusion stands apart from other 3-D printers on the market by focusing on manufacturing production-ready parts, rather than meeting the needs of product prototyping or consumers. The Jet Fusion 3-D printer has the ability to make parts at up to 10X the speed and half the cost, according to HP. The printer has the potential to "transform the whole manufacturing industry," said Enrique Lores, president of the Imaging, Printing and Solutions Business at HP. It's a far bigger market than the consumer and prototyping 3-D printer market, and is the "best growth opportunity for the company in the next five to 10 years," Lores said. "We're investing today to make that possible."

HP Pro x2 612

HP has differentiated the second-generation model of the Pro x2 from other 2-in-1s with a number of features. Those include a magnetically attached Collaboration Keyboard (containing dedicated keys for launching voice and video calls) and advanced security (smart card reader, removable SSD, HP Client Security Suite Gen3, optional fingerprint sensor). The tablet also features military-standard durability, up to 11 hours of battery life, seventh-gen Intel Core processors and both USB-A and USB-C ports.

HP EliteOne 800

This all-in-one PC from HP offers a rare combination of consumer-friendly design flourishes along with business-level performance and security. The 23.8-inch touch screen display is slim and glare-free, and features a minimal bezel. For processors, the EliteOne 800 integrates seventh-gen Intel Core CPUs and an option for AMD Radeon graphics. And security features include multi-factor authentication, HP's self-healing Sure Start technology and remote management capabilities.

HP Omen X Display

Targeted at the enthusiast gaming segment, the HP Omen X is a 35-inch curved display that's designed for immersion in the gaming experience. The display features Ultra-WQHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440) with 1800R curvature (i.e., a curvature radius of 1,800mm). The Omen X also has just a small bezel on the top, right and left sides of the screen.
