More Microsoft Shifts: Young Promoted, English Gone
Great Plains veteran Jeff Young is now vice president of Microsoft Business Solutions in the company's U.S. Sales and Marketing organization, Microsoft confirmed today. And, Dan English, an MBS general manager, has left the building, er Microsoft.
Young was most recently a general manager in MBS overseeing the Great Plains and Solomon lines. Young, along with Tami Reller, Don Nelson, Doug Burgum, and others is a "Fargonaut", i.e. a Great Plains person who has remained with Microsoft since it bought Great Plains five years ago. The independent Great Plains was based in Fargo, N.Dak. Microsoft still retains offices in Fargo, although many of the Fargonauts have moved to Redmond.
English was MBS General Manager within the Small and Midmarket Solutions and Partner (SMS&P) Group. Before that he helped lead Microsoft relationships with large account resellers.
Many saw English's move to MBS a few years ago as a sign the company was going to bolster business apps sales into large companies, aka the Corporate Account Space or CAS.
Unconfirmed rumor has it that English, some kind of sharpshooter/rifleman/whiz, has signed on with a sporting goods company. Dan, if you see this, drop a line to [email protected].
